Progress in the kitchen… finally! I kind of lost interest in my kitchen update project this summer. Well, I kind of lost interest in all of my projects, actually.
However… my Dad had time yesterday to install my floating shelves, and I LOVE them! It totally changed the room. And it kind of got me motivated again.
The shelves are from IKEA, and I just spray painted the brackets gold. (What a difference gold spray paint makes!)
Things to notice:
1. The switch plates are missing because during the grout debacle I got grey grout all over the switches and now it won’t come off so they need to be replaced. Balls.
2. The two big bowls of fruit… I can not BELIEVE how much the 4 boys are eating!!! They’ll power through a huge bowl of fruit in a day (plus a ton of other stuff). They want to eat every 5 minutes. Are all boys like this???
What a gorgeous vignette! I love the idea of floating shelves in the kitchen. I think you might have just inspired me.... ;)
ReplyDeleteAlso inspired me!
DeleteAGHHH!! It looks so good. I just love those shelves and you did such a great job styling them! I'm still so impressed at how much you've done! xoxo

Saw it on instagram this morning and totally love it! How did you get the shelving onto the tiles w/out cracking them? did you drill them in?
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yes... had to drill through the tiles. My Dad helped me... he taped them before he drilled to prevent cracking, and I think he used a special drill bit too.
DeleteThose brackets are hot. Great styling. Yes, about every 5 minutes.
ReplyDeleteI love them and I love the idea of spray painting them gold. Is it not amazing how much a boy can eat in one day??? My son is 14 and I swear he eats more than the rest of us in the house combined.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! So smart to spray them gold.. they look very high end!
ReplyDeleteLove the open shelves on the new tiling, Carissa. Yes, I had 3 boys & by the time they were pre-teens, I needed all of them to come grocery shopping because we needed 4 carts for 2 weeks of groceries. And that's not including the dozens of bread bought separately at the bakery.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, the grocery store knew when it was my payday! Now, in their 30s, they still have healthy appetites yet, being active, they hardly gain a pound! Looking forward to more of your kitchen details.

The shelves turned out absolutely *gorgeous*! And yes, the gold makes all the difference in the world! I'm just now getting to the eating-every-second-of-the-day stage with my boy, so I'm going to assume that yes, yes they all are like that (c;
